The Creative Arts ministry at New Hope includes:
Worship through the Creative Arts prepares the church for an eternal eventuality: a genuine, from-the-heart worship of God (Revelation 5:13). Worship is the natural overflow of a heart brimming with awe and gratitude toward its Creator, Savior, and Lord. The passion of the Christian artist is to lift up Jesus, and Jesus will draw all to Himself (John 12:32).
Style will vary by congregation and culture, but certain elements will remain the same. Since God is seeking worshipers to worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24), all spiritual, artistic expression will:
The quality of artistry should always be the best possible. All artists should first prepare their hearts, and then diligently prepare their art (Ecclesiastes 9:10). God mandates and merits excellence (Numbers 18:29). All applause and praise are directed solely to God, for He alone is worthy (Revelation 4:11), and we are but unprofitable servants (Luke 17:10).
The arts ministry requires faithfulness at all levels (1 Corinthians 4:2). Commitment to Christ is not just a requirement—it is crucial. Every artist who ministers in the church must have a testimony to back up the message of their presentation (1 John 3:18).
Worship has God as the object, but Christians as the source. Hearts in tune with God will worship freely. The Holy Spirit uses the worship team to tune the orchestra for the glorious symphony of worship every time the church gathers to praise God together.
